My relationship with India is a love - hate one, probably because that's the range of emotions I feel when I'm over there. It's such a diverse and complicated country, yet life and death can be so simple - very little is hidden away from view - that's probably why so many people from European and western type cultures suffer badly from culture shock! Don't misunderstand me - I have a love affair with India that's lasted more than 20 years, and there's no doubt I'll be going back - but it's not a holiday, every trip back there is not only a physical challenge but a mental and spiritual one as well. Please don't be put off going there by reading this, as the Indian people are the nicest, friendliest and most welcoming people you could meet; the country is a treasure chest - don't miss any opportunity to go there!
